The Spanish Domestic series Grand Prix del Verano (Summer
Grand Prix) continued into 2002 as seemingly the 'last man standing' of the
major Jeux Sans Frontières series. Now in its eighth year - having
started in 1995 as
Cuando Calienta del Sol (When the Sun Heats Up) - the series moved to a
new recording site at Buñuel Studios, which had been owned and operated by
Radio and Televisión
Española (RTVE) since 1988. The series would remain at this location for the remainder of its
run on TVE.
Grand Prix teams played in blue or yellow. The decision
regarding team colours was determined each week based upon the distance
between the respective towns and the sea. Each week, the town nearer to the
sea would play in blue.
